IIPS announces new officers of managing committee

An area sales manager for Saudi Scaffolding Factory has been named chairman of the International Indian Public School, Riyadh (IIPS).
Imtiaz Ahmed is among seven candidates who won places to the school’s new managing committee, said IIPS principal K. M. Abdul Azeez in Riyadh yesterday.
“The new chairman, who was chosen by the elected panel members, is an engineer by profession,” said Azeez.
Imtiaz, who had been a soccer player at national level in India, holds a Master’s degree in engineering from Osmania University of India.
The IIPS is run by a management panel whose members are elected by the parents.
Indian Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao is the patron of the school as per the provisions of the charter of foreign schools approved by the Ministry of Education.
Azeez said Salman Khalid, a computer programmer working at King Saud University; and Nowshad M. Yusuf, senior supervisor at Etihad Etisalat Co., have taken over as members of the IIPS’s academic subcommittee.
Dr. Sadia Arjumand, assistant professor at King Saud University, has assumed charge of the IIPS special care center for needy and disabled children.
“The new managing committee will have a difficult task ahead, particularly in finding a new location for the school,” said Imtiaz, while pledging to work closely with all panel members to improve the school.
The school has been unable to admit students in different classes mainly because of space constraints, he added.
Imtiaz said: “The new panel will fill up slots for teachers and create an environment best suited for academics and sports.”
Azeez pointed out the Saudi Ministry of Education had approved the new panel with seven members.
The new panel held a meeting in the presence of Mosaed Bin Abdulmuhsen Al-Mujahid, supervisor of the Ministry of Education; and Ravishanker Goel, second secretary at the Indian Embassy.
The Saudi Ministry of Education has a charter governing the operation of international community schools in Saudi Arabia.
According to the regulations, every foreign school shall have a managing committee, either elected from among the parents or nominated by respective foreign missions with a mandate to make decisions on financial, administrative and academic affairs.
IIPS is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), New Delhi, India.
The school is licensed and supervised by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the managing committee and the Indian Embassy.
